A bit of window shopping

Following on from acquiring a fairy door from Pirates and Pixies I have become a little addicted to browsing through the many delights of Etsy. I though I would share some of the beautiful, different and unusual things I have come across, (and you never know, it might inspire Santa!!)

I love this pendent, simple, yet with a hint of magic, its appropriately named The Secret Garden.

I'm a big fan of sci-fi and fantsy books and loved Stardust by Neil Gaiman. I read it before the film was made, but unusually for me, I also love the film, total escapism! So what better way to escape a tedious meeting than my very own Babylon candle?

The only problem with this fabulous clutch is that I would spend way too much money in an attempt to keep showing it off, it would always be my round :-)

Totally bizarre piece of art, but appeals to the book lover (up-cycling old books!) and the biologist in me!

A very pretty and different necklace.

The door appears!

It seems we did wish hard enough as L's very own fairy door appeared over night. It appeared just above her toy press, beside her books and its magical sparkle caught her eye this morning. It created much excitement. A door, just appearing in the wall, how could it not?

I mentioned that it must be a Fairy Door, L agreed and straight away decided there must be a connection to her jewellery box and the fairy inside who minds her slides and clips. We spent a lot of time examining the fairy in the box and showing her the door. We have decided that it must be her friends popping in to say hello.

Before bedtime L decided she would draw some pictures for the fairy in case she returned tonight. A huge amount of time and effort went into these pictures. We also made a little fairy box. Everything was carefully placed in front of the fairy door so they would be seen be whoever might pop in.

I really hope they like the drawings :-)

Autumn - night night trees

Myself and L were taking a walk the other day. We were walking through some trees and the ground was covered in leaves, all in beautiful colours. I was admiring them and we were looking at the colours, so I started to explain autumn to L. I was aiming for an explanation a tiny girl could understand, so I told her that the trees go to sleep for the winter, so they loose their leaves and grow new ones in the spring. She considered this for a few minutes, then looked up and said 'night, night trees'.

As if that wasn't cute enough, she then turned to me, all concerned, and said 'bottle, book?' How could the trees get to sleep without a bottle and a book? In order to help I started reciting her bedtime story, Good Night Moon, but I was very quickly told 'No, no Mammy, tree book', obviously trees need a bedtime story about trees!

A Fairy door

I believe if you wish hard enough it is possible to create a fairy door so they can come visit you, it might look something like this.
As explained by the lovely people at pirates and pixies the door only opens in, so only tiny faeries, elves and the like can use it.

I have heard there is a shortage of bottles among fairy babies, so I suspect any little visitors may request one to take home. I'm sure any little girls good enough to give the fairy a bottle will be rewarded with something very magical!

New shoes to aspire to....

I've been admiring fabulous shoes from Nicolas Kirkwood. Each pair is a little work of art, more sculpture than shoe.

Even if I could afford them I'm not sure where I'd wear them, but it won't stop me admiring them and wishing I had a pair in my wardrobe!

The audit - concluded.

All done and dusted for another year, bar the response in 30 days. We didn't do to bad, better than last year and considering in was 5 audit days this year (2 auditors, 2.5 days) compared to 4 last year we are calling that a success :-)
